Ciphergen / Bio-Rad


Modul-Bio provides robotic systems for high throughput preparation of Ciphergen ProteinChip Arrays for SELDI-TOF MS profiling. These automated systems allow samples preparation, ProteinChip preparation with serum and matrix addition.

  • Reliable and reproducible management of down to 1ul reaction volumes even for complex and mixed types of matrix handled (ex. acetonitrile, trifluoro acetic acid, sinapinic acid etc).

  • Fully automated processes, including matrix addition.

  • Low variation coefficient (10%) for resolution, intensity and signal to noise ratio of m/z reference for proteins with molecular weight range within 2500 and 30000 Da.

  • Possibility of reliable and repeatable enquiries of m/z for low molecular weight proteins (under 6000 Da).

  • 96 channel pipetting head for processing simultaneously an entire 96 spots bioprocessor.

  • Flexible: an interface allows the user to choose the type of ProteinChip used in each column of the ProteinChip cassette.

  • High throughput: up to four ProteinChip arrays can be processed at the same time on Tecan's worktable.

  • Complete traceability with barcode reader for positive identification of tubes, plates, 2D racks and bioprocessors.

  • Communication between Ciphergen (Virtual Note Book) and Tecan.

  • These robotic systems are based on customized Tecan pipetting robots (Evo and Genesys series). Mutiples options are available :
  • -Eight pipetting tips (LIHA)
    -96 pipetting tips (MCA)
    -Barcode reader (POSID)
    -Robotic arm for plates handling (ROMA).

  • Evoware or Gemini programs done by Modul-Bio for sample preparation and ProteinChip (H50, IMAC, CM10, Q10):
  • -serum sample preparation
    -ProteinChip serum fractionation
    -up to 4 ProteinChip bioprocessor
    -matrix addition.

  • Liquid classes:
  • All pipetting programs done by Modul-Bio use specific liquid handling parameters for optimized volumes (apiration and dispense parameters for each type of liquid).

  • MBioCipher:
  • A Swing Java interface MBioCipher is seamlessly integrated with Gemini or Evoware to control the adapted Ciphergen protocols on the Freedom EVO. This interface allows the user to choose the number and volume of serum samples to be bound on Ciphergen ProteinChips and the type of ProteinChip used in each column of the ProteinChip cassette. Up to four ProteinChip arrays can be processed at a time.

  • A module for communication between Ciphergen and Tecan, that provides the following functionalities:
  • -Rearray of samples from tubes to DeepWell96 matching Ciphergen software
    -Creation of daughter plates and 2D racks from DeepWell96
    -Audit of all ProteinChip pipetting parameters (reagent lot number, matrix lot number, etc...)

  • Variomag shakers:
  • Up to four shakers can be used to process four ProteinChip arrays.
