Modul-Bio selected by the Biobank at Hospital Pasteur in Nice to provide with LIMS biobanking software

The Nice Biobank at the University of Côte d’Azur (BB-0033-00025) is a leading cancer biobank directed by Professor Paul Hofman that was established in 2004 and is part of the Laboratory of Clinical and Experimental Pathology (LPCE) platform at the Nice University Hospital Campus (Hôpital Pasteur de Nice, France).

The Biobank Côte d’Azur is world-renowned for its expertise in lung cancer but also has main collections in different tumor and non-tumor thoracic and thyroid diseases as well as melanoma. These collections include high quality biospecimen tissue samples (frozen, FFPE), biological fluids (plasma, serum, urine) as well as derivatives prepared from these samples: RNA, DNA, PBMC… The Nice Biobank is ranked the first lung biobank in France based on the ratio number of samples/number of publications and is certified according to the specific NF S96-900 norm since 2010. The LPCE was also the first pathology laboratory in France to obtain, in 2013, the ISO accreditation (ISO 15189) for its activities in pathology and molecular biology.

The Biobank Côte D’Azur has collected over 90,000 samples from 15,000 patients including over 3,200 lung cancer patients. It has always committed to an optimized quality approach with the aim of eliminate pre-analytical variations in the samples. Its excellence and reliability are well known and respected amongst researchers.

As part of the MBioLIMS BioBanking, the system also includes an eCRF module for the capture and management of clinical data. Combined with sample data, it allows the easy location of samples based on specific criteria

Pr Paul Hofman explains: “Better understanding of cancer, improving the diagnosis and clinical care of patients and providing precision medicine requires high quality biological material and associated clinical data. It is imperative that the management of these samples and associated clinical data meets those high standards. This is why we selected Modul-Bio’s MBioLIMS BioBanking software which is a comprehensive and flexible tool for the management of the complete lifecycle of biological samples. A such software will also help us to better manage prospective fit-for purpose biospecimen collections“.

As part of the MBioLIMS BioBanking®, the system also includes an eCRF module for the capture and management of clinical data. Combined with sample data, it allows the easy location of samples based on specific criteria.

Laurent Jacotot, CEO of Modul-Bio states: “We are very honored that Pr Hofman selected our MBioLIMS BioBanking software for the Biobank Côte d’Azur. As he always has been at the forefront of biobanking and biomarker science, it is also a recognition for us that our software is ideal for the current needs and future needs of biobanks “.
