New York University Abu Dhabi deploys MBioLIMS BioBanking® software for long-term public health study of 20,000 UAE Nationals

The Public Health Research Center at NYU Abu Dhabi is undertaking research that is tackling some of the major health concerns that the United Arab Emirates is facing: diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease, via the establishment of a longitudinal cohort study of 20,000 UAE national men and woman.
Each participant in the study is requested to donate blood, urine and mouthwash samples. These samples are collected from five different sites across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Using the MBioLIMS® system allows recruitment to be monitored across the multiple sites and tracking the samples that are associated with each participants, plus the multiple sub-aliquots that are generated from the initial sample. The MBioLIMS® software is also integrating clinical biochemistry, haematology and immunoassay data, which gives the ability to search for participants based on certain clinical profiles.
MBioLIMS® software with the Multi-Sites Module provides a complete solution for the main laboratory site and the 5 clinics. Main activities recorded in the LIMS include: patient registration, sample collection, barcode printing, integration of physical measurements from Tanita, SphygmoCor instruments, and sample transfer from collection sites to NYU laboratory, sample preparation, aliquoting, storage, shipment and reporting. In addition, various sample analysis data are directly exported from haematology, biochemistry and immunoassay diagnostic instruments to the sample management system in order to provide a complete integrated system.
